SUMMER KNIT-ALONG




Double-Knit Cowl from Vogue Spring/Summer 2017
All Summer – No Charge
Instructors: Suzanne Kelly and Carol Quinn

Interested in double-knitting but not sure where to start? We’ll be knitting a cowl this summer to learn this technique. Our kick-off meeting will be on Friday, June 23 at 7 p.m. We’ll have the pattern, suggested yarns, and will help get you started. We’ll meet again in August to show off our creations.





KNITTING


Knitting Club

This is not a class, but a support group for advanced beginner through advanced knitters. Some knitting experience is required. Members receive a $5 merchandise credit for each week in attendance PLUS 10% OFF all yarn. Feel free to join anytime, even after the sessions have started. Not sure if this is for you? CROCHET


Crochet Linen Stitch Scarf
Minimum 3 participants
Friday (2 – 5 p.m.) May 19

This scarf has the same look as the knitted Linen Stitch scarf, but is quicker and simpler to make. This beginner class will teach you to make a chain and to single crochet.

Infinity Scarf
Minimum 3 participants
Monday (2 – 5 p.m.) May 22

So simple to make and elegant too!. This is a beginner class that is also a great starter crochet project for knitters. Skills you will learn include making a chain, single crochet, and double crochet.





SPINNING


Spinning Club
First Monday of each month (1:00 – 3:00 p.m.)
No charge
Advisor: Suzanne Kelly

This is a drop-in class. Join us to sit, spin and relax with your wheel or spindle once a month. We’ll share techniques, tips, and conversation. All levels are welcome. Participants will receive 10% OFF spinning fibers the days the club meets.

Beginning Spinning on the Wheel
Minimum 4 participants
Saturday (10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) August 25

Take the time to learn to spin on the wheel. Students will learn to prepare and card fleece, and will have the opportunity to try several types of wheels. Wheels, hand cards, and fleece will be provided.

Beginner's Drop Spindle Spinning
Minimum 4 participants
Thursday (6 – 8 p.m.) August 10

Love fiber? Love yarn? Learn to make your own yarn from commercially prepared wool fibers using a drop spindle. Spinning with a drop spindle is relaxing and portable. Students may bring their own drop spindle or borrow one from the instructor, or purchase one at the shop. Penny is an experienced spinner and weaver and is currently the Director of the Westford Museum.





WEAVING


PRIVATE LESSON: Beginning Weaving on a 4-Harness Loom
You pick the dates – two 6-hour days
$570 plus materials
Instructor: Penny Lacroix

Have you always wanted to know how to weave, or just need a quick refresher? This is a start-to-finish beginning weaving experience. Participants will wind and beam a warp, sley the reed, thread the heddles, weave a sampler and learn about finishing techniques. All equipment will be made available for the class. Looms may be brought home between classes to work on the project. Materials fee: cost of 6-9 oz perle cotton ($1.44 per ounce) and the optional purchase of Learning to Weave by Debbie Chandler.





PRIVATE LESSONS


Want to take a class but can’t make the scheduled session? We offer private spinning lessons for $35 per hour. You will be spinning by the end of the session. All that’s needed after that is practice, practice, practice! Our private lessons in crochet and knitting are $45 for a two-hour session. Beginners will learn the basics plus the supplies and tools they need to get started. Give us a call at 978-456-8669 for more information or to set up an appointment.





REPAIR AND FINISHING SERVICE


Experienced staff now provide a repair and finishing service for your projects. If you have a hole to fix, need help putting a sweater together, etc. we’ll take a look at it and give you an estimate.




  • We accept Master Card, Visa, Discover, and American Express, as well as checks. Phone registration accepted with credit card. Tuition for classes will be charged 4 days prior to a session. No refunds after that time. Tuitions will be refunded if class is cancelled.
  • Unless otherwise noted in the class listing, the cost of materials is additional.
  • While enrolled in a class at the Fiber Loft, students are eligible for a 10% discount on yarns and fibers.
  • If school is cancelled in Harvard due to inclement weather, then classes at the Fiber Loft are also cancelled. Please call if you are unsure if the shop will be open
  • Teenagers are welcome in all adult classes.
  • Please plan on either bringing your lunch or buying it for those classes that run all day.
