Happy Holiday Crafting!

How are you all doing? Knitting needles flying? Crochet hooks hooking? Weaving shuttles sliding? Felting needles felting? And Five Golden Rings!!!! Anyone in panic mode yet? With Hanukkah this week, and Christmas just a few weeks away, I always get the idea that I can accomplish anything this month. Then reality sets in and I realize I’m being extremely unrealistic. But whatever I get done is an accomplishment, and someone will receive a great gift (sometimes a few people).

So, I need to make a correction to last week’s post. I gave you the right cowl pattern but posted the wrong cowl. So, here it goes again.

This cowl is called Hillview Road Cowl, by Holli Adams Samet. It was done in Malabrigo Rios.

This is the Knitty Keen Neck Warmer, by Jennifer E.S. Crimmins. It was knit in Berroco Ultra Alpaca.

Next week I’m hoping to share my daughter’s wedding shawl/scarf/stole. I’ve had a few people reach out to get the pattern. The pattern is called Christmas Trees and Snowflakes Knit Lace Scarf, by Michael Harrigan. I doubled the pattern to make it wider. It is beautiful and reminds me of gently falling snowflakes and beautiful trees.

Happy Knitting!

  1. Really enjoyed making the Northern Strand and Knitty Keen cowl as gifts this holiday season. I’ll give the others a try too! Quick question about knitting the Hillview Road Cowl in Rios. Did you use a smaller needle than the suggested 10, possibly a 9?

    Happy New Year!

  2. Hi Michelle. In regard to your question, I used the needle size recommended in the pattern. Due to holiday chaos, I need to find my cowl binder to check, but usually when I recommend a pattern I test knit it with the directions given by the designer.
