As I mentioned in an earlier post, I do a little crochet. And up until this past fall, it was very little crochet. However, all of a sudden, crochet is my new craft passion. I was lucky enough to take a class here at the store with Harry, our resident crochet instructor. This colorwork class took my crocheting to a whole new level. We did some graphing for design, learned how to hold the yarn, and I also did some free-form. Next week we will be sewing the squares together to make a bag. I need a total of thirteen squares by this week😳.

My squares thus far: free-form crochet, tapestry style. Made out of Plymouth Encore worsted weight yarn and a size F crochet hook.
Book recommendation:
Unfortunately, I don’t have one. So dear crocheters, do you have a book recommendation? Looking for techniques, a few patterns, maybe a garment or two and some general crocheting advice. Please let us know!
The vote for Harvard’s Winterfest Grand Prize Hat:
We were invited to vote for the Grand Prize hat for Harvard’s Winterfest. I was quite impressed with how the group worked together to vote for the winning hat. It took 45 minutes, so this was not a job taken lightly. Eight hand-knit hats and one crochet hat were entered.

Here’s the winning hat that was chosen by the Fiber Loft’s Tuesday Knitting group. The group voted based on these standards: detail of design, execution of stitches, professional finishing (weaving in ends) and versatility (hat can be worn standard or slouchy). Congratulations to the winner!
Happy Knitting/Crocheting/Crafting!!
